Fresh Asparagus Sculpture et al!

A slow start after a late night...
Debbie took us to this amazing Sculpture Park
Interspersed amongst 42 acres of wonderful garden are around 90 fabulous sculptures.
Some of course as usual are only “Beauty in the eye of the Beholder”
It was fantastic
Here are some of my favourites

"Nature’s Lace" by Jan Gosling $3,100

Barbara Smith "Traumatised" Price on application

A Living Racing Granny

This wonderful woman is 90 in December and she got herself all the way up the hill.

"Cut Grass Collective" $200 each

Thought this was clever

"Charm Bracelet" by Fiona Garlick $4500
I loved this grouping

Beautifully positioned isn't it great?

I’m not sure who the artist was.
And then there is the mad wrapping of trees!!!

Called "Yards" only $2000

And "Teenage Boys Bedroom" ...Priceless!!!
So it was farewell to the park, lunch at the excellent French Style Cafe, The French Tart, sporting probably the best date scones I have had in a while. The Blue and white stripe awning...situated on River Road Hamilton.A quick visit to Debbie’s lovely Mother Dorothy, and off to Taupo.

John and Sue our Taupo hosts have a superb town house with a wonderful structured garden.
They have a lot of style….it’s a joy to wake up and gaze out to this.

So back to food.
John made Whitebait Fritters

Once again yet another whitebait recipe

250 gms whitebait
4 eggs separated
Little flour to bind
Sea salt & freshly ground black pepper

Fry in large spoonfuls in butter and oil till golden each side.

These accompanied pre dinner drinks.

Some lovely Fresh pan fried fish, Salad, Fresh Asparagus, Salad from the garden.

Followed by Brownies with Icecream and Cream
More wine of course.
We rolled down to bed and prepared for the next leg of the journey

Goodbye to Maggie the dog.
So cute.
